Well that seems to be what's on Blazers Fans' minds these days... Do we keep Blake? I don't know it's hard for me not to like the guy. He's one of two Blazers who live in PDX year round, he's a white dude who endorses AND1 [(totes LOLz)Freals, I saw that shit up in slame and I was like NO FUCKIN WAY! DOPE!] and he has played for Milwaukee and Washington. Fuck man, that's like a veteran of both world wars coming home. Mother fucker's probably just happy to be here. He went from being part of two of the most disappointing franchises in the league to being on a contender coming into bloom in an area he apparently likes. I mean that dude is obviously stoked and I just imagine that trading him would harsh his proverbial mellow. I mean I just see that guy gettin traded and arriving at his new destination and just saying some shit like "fuck man I'm not tryin' to be all Starbury anything but this shit sucks". The reality is though that this is pretty likely and if Steve gets swapped for someone better well sorry man that's the way the cookie crumbles in the jungle and if that happens I will be more inclined to see whichever team your playing for when you come to the rose garden even if they suck because we all know that sometimes the blowouts are the best nights at the garden. Like I only made it to one game last season due to poverty/the economie but it was that game where we fucked the Heat up, you know the one where D-Wade seriously just looked like he wanted to fucking leave. Yeah I was at that shit and it was some dope because everyone played, fuck man Ike's getting traded at the deadline ass was even off the bench for a minute in that game. Anyhow I'm getting really off topic here, sorry it is Ripped City. Anyway Blake more than likely isn't going to a team that sucks. More likely the buzz going around is that he'll be sent to Chicago in a trade for Kirk Hinrich. I can see this one from both sides. Really at this point I'm kind of apathetic to it, I think it's an all right idea but I don't think it's as serious as everyone is making it out to be. Blake and Hinrich are very similar PGs, the general opinion is that Hinrich is a better version of Blake or that Steve Blake is the Miller High Life and Hinrich is the Miller Genuine Draft in the Blazers cooler. Well I'm a high life man, I like cheap, it's not glorious, but I think it'll work. I think with the improvement Blake has shown and the decline I've seen from Hinrich over the years, seriously pushing Detroit to 6 games in 07 to that shitfest year in 08 up to this year watching your boys draft the #1 and pretty fucking locked in Rookie of the Year at your position. You just got told you have to train the dude taking your position? Fuck man, Hinrich wants to get out somewhere where he'll still be runiing the show and I get that Portland meets his criteria for that and for a year or two he might be better than Blake would have been but in 2 or 3 years Blake might be a better PG and Kirk could be riding the pine terminally, fading out of the NBA backing up promising rookies in perpetual lottery franchises. I think Blake isn't hurting us and seeing him stay would work fine especially if we got the Small Forward figured out and our centers came together. It'd also be nice to get LA some backup. Again I'll say I like Antonio McDyess in this scenario.
fuck dudes I seriously forgot I was writing a blog, went to do a quick Tweet on www.twitter.com/rippedcity and peeped this weirdo @ www.twitter.com/gabfrab started reading his tweets to my room mate and got distracted. I don't wanna reread everything I wrote so I'm going to try to start up again as best I can with a little bit of recap and make this next part a little less rambly.
A lot of folks think we're gonna have Blake and Hinrich involved in a trade, probably with a few other players involved as well.
I'm cool with it but I'm not really super stoked on it either. I think we'll have a strong team next year either way.
I think Bayless is the safest, now that we dumped of Sergio he'll get more minutes and just back up the starter every night and hopefully establish that he'll be the future starting PG on the Blazers. That's what a lot of people are hoping for and I think it's highly plausible. I don't think he's going anywhere.
So that's about all I can handle for writing about the Blazers Point Guard Crisis 09 Edition for now I'm gonna go smoke a cigarette. Follow me on twitter if you've got it and leave me feedback!
